Head’s Message

billThank you for taking some time to learn more about Tremont.  As you may know, we are a new and growing school with grand ambitions about changing the paradigm of education.  On our website, you will find a small but inherently insufficient window into our school.  I believe that the only real way to understand how our school is different is to talk to the students, parents, and teachers about their daily life and learning.

Each individual has his or her own path to and through Tremont.  I call it their Tremont story.  The most important step along this path is the realization that school can be different – school can be an actual step in the fulfillment of your life’s purpose, not just a necessary chore to survive.  For me, what has been so important in my own schooling was being known personally and through my work.  I needed the very real sense that what I was doing was important work, appreciated and taken seriously by my teachers.  I needed to see what I was doing as the beginning of tomorrow.  What I felt throughout my secondary school career was the constant impression that we were preparing for some unknown and perpetually unrealized future.

At Tremont, we are not just preparing for the future, we are beginning it now.  We look for the value, the learning, and the future in each moment, the great and the small, the best and the worst.  I am here at Tremont because we envision a school a learning home for students, parents, teachers, and the greater Tremont community, which embraces the future through the present, rather than despite the present.

Thank you again for your interest in Tremont.  I am always humbled by the outpouring of support for our little school, even from those with no immediate connection here.  This place has a way of capturing the imagination because of our energy for the possible.  So, why wait?   Start being who you are becoming.

I hope to meet you soon.
